چکیده

In this work we propose the use of power over fiber (PoF) and free space optics (FSO) techniques to powering and receive signals from an electrical current sensor placed at high voltage potential using a pair of optical collimators. The technique evaluation was performed in a laboratorial prototype using 62.5/125 lm multimode fiber to study the sensitivity of the optical alignment and the influence of the collimation process in the sensing system wavelengths: data communication (1310 nm) and powering (830 nm). The collimators were installed in a rigid electric insulator in order to maintain the stability of transmission. 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Tapered Optical Fiber Coated with ZnO Nanorods for Detection of Ethanol Concentration in Water

This work presents ZnO nanorods coated multimode optical fiber sensing behavior in response to ethanol solution. The sensor operates based on modulation of light intensity which arises from manipulation of light interaction with the ambient environment in sensing region. For this purpose, two steps are experimentally applied here; etching and then coating fiber with ZnO nanorods to provide stro...

Cryogenic-temperature profiling of high-power superconducting lines using local and distributed optical-fiber sensors.

This contribution presents distributed and multipoint fiber-optic monitoring of cryogenic temperatures along a superconducting power transmission line down to 30 K and over 20 m distance. Multipoint measurements were conducted using fiber Bragg gratings sensors coated with two different functional overlays (epoxy and poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA)) demonstrating cryogenic operation in the rang...

Using of Broadened Asymmetric Waveguide Structure for 980nm Diode Laser

Laser diode beam divergence is the main parameter for beam shaping and fiber optic coupling. Increasing the waveguide layer thickness is the conventional method to decrease the beam divergence. In this paper, the broadened asymmetric waveguide is introduced to decrease the divergence without increasing the optical power. The asymmetric waveguide was used to shift the vertical optical field to n...

Using Multiple Input Multiple Output as Hybrid Free Space Optics/Radio Frequency Links

This paper describes overview and definitions about Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) formats which can be used in hybrid Free Space Optics/Radio Frequency (FSO/RF) links. Free space optical links allow obtain high speed data transmission without optical fibers. This type of communication is dependent on weather properties and line of sight is needed. This fact has negative influence on inf...
